What is the Abidjan Declaration 2019?

In 2019 the International Labour Organisation (ILO) celebrated its Centenary and 60 years of ILO presence on the African continent. The 14th African Regional Meeting was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with the aim of forging a regional framework to unleash Africa’s potential for inclusive growth and shaping a future of work with social justice.

On 6th December 2019, the meeting adopted the Abidjan Declaration, which has the overarching goal of Advancing Social Justice: Shaping the future of work in Africa.

The Social Partners committed to support attainment of the priorities identified in the Declaration. BUSINESSAfrica – Employers’ Confederation being the continental umbrella body of employers in Africa is committed to ensuring the participation of the Employers’ Organizations in Africa towards the implementation of the Abidjan Declaration.
