BUSINESSAfrica Employers' Confederation Holds The Annual General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland

BUSINESSAfrica Employers' Confederation (BUSINESSAfrica) concluded its Annual General Assembly on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland. The high-level gathering brought together employer representatives, partners, and key stakeholders from across the African continent and the international business community.

The General Assembly was chaired by BUSINESSAfrica’s newly elected President, Mr. Baïdy AGNE, who is also the President of the Conseil National du Patronat du Sénégal together with Ms. Jacqueline Mugo who is the Secretary-General of BUSINESSAfrica and Executive Director of Federation of Kenya Employers.

The Assembly addressed critical issues shaping the future of work in Africa, focusing on the organization’s issues such as strengthening membership, collaboration, and BUSINESSAfrica’s position in the continent. The meeting also reinforced BUSINESSAfrica’s commitment to strengthening employer organizations and driving inclusive economic development.

Members also reviewed the Confederation’s progress, adopted strategic priorities for the coming year 2026, and elected new leadership to steer the organization forward. The following countries are represented on the executive council:

  2. South Africa
  3. Algeria
  4. Kenya
  5. Nigeria
  6. Ivory Coast
  7. Benin
  8. Cameroon
  9. Mauritius
  10. Uganda
  11. Zimbabwe
  12. Mali
  13. Tunisia
The Assembly emphasized the importance of collaboration with international partners to tackle challenges and promote growth on African businesses.

Speaking at the Assembly, BUSINESSAfrica President Mr. Baïdy AGNE stated that successful gathering reflects a collective determination to champion the interests of African employers and contribute meaningfully to global conversations such as work, growth, and social development.

Ms. Mugo the Secretary-General of BUSINESSAfrica encouraged all members present during the Assembly actively to participate in the upcoming Africa Employers’ Summit to be held in Nairobi from the 7th to 8th of August 2025.

The Confederation also reaffirmed its close working relationship with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and global employer network, the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) to ensure African voices remain central on the world stage.
