BUSINESSAfrica Engages AfDB on New African Financial Architecture
Feb 08, 2026

Mr. Baidy Agne, President of BUSINESSAfrica, led a delegation to meet Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group, for a high-level working session focused on the New African Financial Architecture (NAFA) initiative.
The meeting brought together leaders of African business associations and senior AfDB officials to strengthen dialogue between the Bank and the private sector. Discussions centered on the role and functions of the Private Sector Consultative Committee, with a shared goal of ensuring that African businesses have a stronger voice in shaping financial policies and instruments.
During the session, the African Development Bank presented its existing tools supporting private sector development, as well as new instruments currently under preparation. The exchange also covered short- and medium-term actions designed to deliver practical, measurable results for African enterprises across key sectors.
This engagement marked an important step toward operationalizing the AfDB–Private Sector consultation framework. By reinforcing an inclusive and structured approach to dialogue, the meeting underscored a joint commitment to building a financial architecture that responds more effectively to the needs of Africa’s private sector and supports sustainable economic growth across the continent.
